Love Handle | Singapore’s Plant-Based Butcher with Creative Dishes
Situated along Ann Siang Hill is Love Handle, a plant-based butcher that offers creative dishes you can hardly tell that no meat has been used! Most of the dishes are casual Western grub infused with local flavours.
The first dish we tried was the Love Handle Egg Mayo Focaccia ($12) – made with love handle egg mayo on toasted herb focaccia, dill and compressed grapes. The recommended side from their staff is the Roasted Cauliflower ($12) and we are glad we had it. The charcoal-roasted cauliflower is served with burnt spring onion mayo, Love Handle chilli and chives. Sounds simple but the flavors meld well and despite the generous serving size, we couldn’t get enough of it.From the mains, we had the Love Handle Fried Chicken ($16), which features two buttermilk-fried Love Handle chicken breasts, gochujang mayo and kimchi. The chicken breast is nicely seasoned and battered, with a crispy exterior and interior that has the texture of “katsu” – chicken cutlets. The other main we tried was the Mee Sua with Ginger Soy Chicken ($15). This was our favorite dish with amazing flavors from the Love Handle ginger soy chicken, chilled mee sua, fried nori and Love Handle Hao Gan Ma sauce. Slightly spicy but nothing those with low spice tolerance cannot handle. We rounded up our meal with the Oat Milk Pudding ($8) and Chocolate Mousse Cake ($12). The former consists of smooth oat milk pudding with smoked fruit, drizzled in maple syrup. The latter is a chocolate mousse cake with blueberry preserves and candied hazelnuts.
If you’re looking for something new to try this weekend, we recommend giving Love Handle a go for its unique grub and chill ambiance.
