UMusic and Outernet London Open New Hotel

UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle (UMHL), a venture developed in partnership with Universal Music Group, has teamed up with immersive entertainment district Outernet London to open a new hotel and curate experiential programming across the district. Through this agreement, UMHL will open and operate UMusic Hotel Denmark Street, which is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026. This marks the brand’s first hotel in the United Kingdom and its second European location, following the opening of UMusic Hotel Madrid in 2022.

Managing Outernet’s Music Venues

UMHL will also oversee a range of music-focused experiences across the district. The company will manage food and beverage concepts, guest lounges, and live event programming at Outernet’s grassroots venue, The Lower Third. Under the new arrangement, UMHL will lead operations for the venue in coordination with Universal Music Group’s global network of artists, labels, and creative partners.

The project fills a void left by the closure of the luxury boutique hotel Chateau Denmark. That property, housed across 16 buildings on Denmark Street, closed in August 2026 after four years of operation.

Partners on Denmark Street

Jordi Solé, president of UMusic Hospitality & Lifestyle, said that Denmark Street holds a special place in music history. He described it as a place where artists found their voice, creativity flourished, and music culture took shape. Solé stated that the partnership with Outernet offers the opportunity to honour that legacy by creating hospitality and cultural experiences that support emerging artists and ensure the destination continues to shape the future of music.

Philip O’Ferrall, CEO of Outernet, noted that music has always been a driving force for the organization. He emphasized that the partnership connects the area’s heritage with a platform capable of reaching mass audiences through physical presence, immersive screens, and audio technology. O’Ferrall expressed pride in working with UMHL, predicting the collaboration will transform the experience for both artists and fans.

UMHL and Outernet’s plans represent a significant shift in how a historic London street manages its hospitality offerings. The move aims to blend physical lodging with a curated cultural environment, potentially setting a new standard for how music venues integrate with hotel operations in major urban districts. By centralizing programming under one operator, the partners hope to streamline the guest experience from arrival to departure, ensuring that the cultural narrative of Denmark Street remains central to the visitor journey.

Denmark Street has long been recognized as a cornerstone of Britain’s musical heritage, serving as a gathering point for musicians and songwriters throughout the latter half of the twentieth century. The street’s concentration of instrument shops, rehearsal spaces, and recording studios made it an organic hub for creative exchange. By situating UMusic Hotel Denmark Street within this context, UMHL aims to create an environment where the spirit of that creative community can continue to thrive under contemporary hospitality formats.

The integration of The Lower Third into UMHL’s operational framework extends beyond simple venue management. The grassroots venue, which has established itself as a platform for up-and-coming performers, will benefit from expanded programming capabilities through UMHL’s direct connection to Universal Music Group’s extensive roster of artists and industry professionals. This coordination is expected to facilitate a more dynamic calendar of events, ranging from intimate acoustic sessions to larger showcase evenings that could draw both hotel guests and local audiences seeking authentic musical experiences.

Outernet London’s immersive entertainment district distinguishes itself through its integration of advanced visual and audio technologies across its public spaces. The partnership with UMHL brings an additional layer of hospitality expertise to the district, complementing the existing entertainment infrastructure with overnight accommodation and curated guest experiences. This convergence of lodging, cultural programming, and immersive technology creates a destination model that differs from traditional hotel and venue operations, positioning the collaboration as a pilot for future developments in entertainment-led hospitality.

Food and beverage concepts developed under the partnership will be designed to reflect the musical heritage of the location while offering contemporary dining experiences. These offerings are intended to serve both hotel residents and district visitors, creating gathering spaces where informal networking among artists, industry representatives, and music enthusiasts can occur naturally. The strategic placement of these concepts throughout the property aims to encourage exploration of the district’s various entertainment offerings.

The departure of Chateau Denmark left a notable gap in Denmark Street’s hospitality setting. Operating across multiple period buildings, the boutique property had catered to a niche market seeking accommodations with direct connections to the street’s musical character. UMHL’s approach builds upon this foundation while expanding the scope of cultural engagement available to guests, integrating the operational expertise of Universal Music Group’s global network into the day-to-day visitor experience.
