The Social Hub appoints Megan Kennedy as chief operating officer, effective September 1, as the firm readies a Europe‑wide membership rollout.
New leader brings global hospitality experience
Kennedy arrives from London‑based members’ club The Conduit, where she held the global chief operating officer role. Her résumé spans more than two decades in hospitality and lifestyle sectors, emphasizing multi‑site scaling while keeping people and culture front‑and‑center. During her tenure at The Conduit, she guided the launch of several flagship locations across Europe and Asia, overseeing design, staffing, and technology integration that lifted guest satisfaction scores.
Prior to The Conduit, she oversaw large‑scale operations for Selina across the Americas, steering the brand through rapid growth phases that added dozens of properties in under three years. Those stints gave her a toolbox for handling complex, cross‑regional teams, negotiating supplier contracts, and embedding sustainability standards that reduced operational waste by a noticeable margin.
Role focuses on scaling a hybrid model
Based in Barcelona, Kennedy will steer operations across the company’s expanding European portfolio, with regular visits to the Amsterdam headquarters. The position demands aligning hotel rooms, student housing, coworking, food‑and‑beverage, events and community spaces under a single operational umbrella, a challenge that requires both strategic vision and day‑to‑day coordination.
Her immediate priorities include embedding the new membership offering, tightening execution standards, and ensuring that upcoming technology and AI upgrades boost both guest and employee experiences. The plan calls for a phased rollout of a unified booking platform, predictive staffing algorithms, and personalized service dashboards that will allow managers to anticipate demand spikes before they occur.
The rollout begins this autumn.
Integrating a membership proposition into a hybrid hospitality model is no small feat. The move highlights how firms blending lodging, coworking and community spaces are seeking seasoned operators to keep pace with rapid expansion. As investors look for scalable yet experience‑driven concepts, a leader with a track record in multi‑site operations can help turn concept into consistent service.
Company executives comment on appointment
Group COO and CCO Eyal Amzallag said, “Megan is a rare leader who understands that great hospitality is built on great people and experience and operational excellence, in equal measure. As we scale across Europe, her background is exactly what we need to grow without losing what makes the company unique.”
Kennedy will start on September 1, based in Barcelona and traveling frequently to Amsterdam to support the European sites. Her start date aligns with the planned autumn launch of the membership program, a timeline that allows the team to complete final system tests before opening to members.
What comes next for the membership program
“This is an amazing time to join The Social Hub as we prepare to launch our membership proposition across Europe later this autumn,” Kennedy said. “We’re going to blow minds with this!” She added, “My first priority will be to spend time with our teams, understand what already makes the company special and help strengthen the operational foundations that allow the business to continue growing without losing the character and experience people value so highly.” The firm aims to roll out the membership offering later this autumn, backed by investments in technology, AI and operational innovation. The rollout will test the ability to deliver a unified experience across the varied spaces the organization manages, from boutique hotels to student residences and collaborative work environments.
